Of particular interest are the recent advances in chromatography, as well as ionization interfaces that are already showing promising appications for DMPK work. Like the first edition, each chapter is clearly written by people that use the technique for their work, as the examples are very relevant to the DMPK scientist. Each of the covered techniques contains enough background material to allow even the novice to get started, and the references will be of interest to the more advanced reader. Both quantitative and qualitative applications are covered in the chapters, as well as the strategies by which they are put into place in the DMPK setting. Vaccines: A Biography Review

I have always been interested in the topic of vaccines and as a student of history, purchased Vaccines: A Biography, hoping that it would fulfill the promise in its Preface of "filling a void" by focusing on the "social, cultural, and scientific history of vaccines". I wasn't looking for a technical manual or heavy basic science tome on vaccines but for a book with detailed accounts of how these lifesaving products came to be and with stories about the interesting people who came up with these ideas and pursued them. I was not disappointed. The book is wonderfully written, easy to read, and describes the science in the context of the time in which the work was occurring. It makes a fascinating read!

The introductory chapter sets the tone by placing infectious diseases in their proper, broad historical context; the final chapter gives a brief but useful glimpse into what the future of vaccines may hold. In between, the book deals with the history of vaccines against individual infectious diseases, anchored by two chapters that divide the history into its early era and the "golden age" of vaccines. Even though the chapters are written by different authors (although the Editor wrote multiple), the book flows with one voice, and the style is consistent, which makes the reading easy. I read it cover-to-cover, but it is clear that one could read individual chapters and still come away with a good understanding of the topic.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in history, science, medicine, public health, or any combination of these. I learned a tremendous amount about not only vaccines and scientists, but about the social context in which they worked and the challenges they faced. I can't wait to see what the next book will be by this author.

I'm still trying to absorb everything but with recently getting involved with the stainless roll solar panel industry this has been very helpful. It doesn't turn you into an expert off the bat, you really need to actually work with equipment and run process for that. But if you know the basics of this type of equipment it can give really help you further that knowledge and get you to that point. AT least, that's how far I've gotten so far.

Verilog: Frequently Asked Questions: Language, Applications and Extensions Review

This book tries to do three things: 1) introduce designers to some of the idiosynchrasies and pitfalls of the Verilog language, 2) teach some important basic digital design principles, and 3) go beyond pure functionality and help designers appreciate testability, verification, and emergent system performance issues. It does very well in all, I think. They do not mire themselves down in the detailed syntax or semantics of Verilog except in avoiding the aforementioned pitfalls. On the whole, the design principles are well illustrated. They did reference a web page on metastability and synchronization between clock domains, but by and large, the book is self contained. It seems to me that there is an error in the gated clock discussion in Fig. 2.20. The clock polarity is invered compared with Fig. 2.19 - the latter is correct. Also ~clk needs to be used instead of clk in some of the latch control code in the corresponding Verilog examples. Otherwise, I have found few problems. This book is by far the best of the dozen or so (generally poor) Verilog books I have read.
