The title of this book is very deceiving. I do not think the authors pull it off in the end. This book is a tremendous effort to describe the brains and inner workings of a neurophysiological multiple electrode array in full operating condition. The authors do a stellar job of describing the electronics and physics of the analog digital circuitry, the Hadamard code technique, fancy capacitors and amplifers, in addition to the engineering mathematical equations which describe the machine which controls the recordings of a sample 16 electrode array. The book is going to be a very good reference manual for neurophysiologists, physicists, and engineers, but perhaps a little too much for the average neurosurgeon or physiology researcher.

This is the cutting edge of cortical prosthetics where creating computers and brain machines combined interfaces will succeed. It may be possible from the recent past into the future to control human thinking and thus the mind itself. Psychokinesis and remote viewing are such examples. When does the end of the machine stop and the mind begins? These researchers are to be applauded for their fine efforts. I do not think that human mind control is the right thing to do on moral grounds. This is when machines start invading consciousness and then ultimately influence our personalities and the very substance of who we are. I believe we are on the verge of a cortical thinking artificial implant. This is treading into very dangerous waters morally.
