A brilliant book that describes the details of the daily lives of Ottoman women - mainly the upper-class women. From the Sultans' harem and the Pa�as' wives to the commoner or servile women - their daily lives all woven into the larger fabric of the Ottoman Empire.

Fanny Davis had done a great job in researching the subject presented in a single coherent narrative about the Ottoman lady.

Although it looks like a pretty boring academic book, I found The Ottoman Lady to be one of the most entertaining and enjoyable books about the Ottoman Empire.

The book gets 5 stars from me, despite the very few spelling mistakes and misinterpretations of certain cultural practices.
