Spacecraft Power Systems Review

I got this book to help with some research that I was working on at the time. I had read some sections of the book online prior to ordering it (do a quick search and it should pop up as one of the first hits) and some of the marital that I wanted to see was not available for preview for the free online version. Unfortunately, for my particular case about solar panels, the there wasn't any new information that I found in the book that I wasn't able to find online. I have had this book for a little over a year and I have read through most of the chapters that were relevant to me (dealing with power storage and generation) and found some useful or enlightening information. However, I feel that I would have been able to find the information elsewhere on the internet for free. The benefit would be that all the research as been done and placed into one book.

Pros:
The book covers a lot of different aspects of spacecraft power design.
May bring up issues or ideas that you may have not though of or considered.

Cons:
The information covered is not detailed enough.
- It does not always explain how to compensate for different factors, but instead just recognizes that it needs to be compensated for.
- Not enough technical information.
- Does not have enough applications information in the book. Perhaps this is due to ITAR reasons?

Overall this is a nice book that covers the general idea of a spacecraft power system. It would be great for someone who is learning about spacecraft power systems for CubeSats and Small Satellite applications because it would introduce the reader to the different ideas, theories and reasoning. For someone with more experience and who is looking for more specific details about a particular section in the power system, I would not recommend this book. There probably will not be enough information for the reader. However, I understand that this book is meant to cover the entire spacecraft power system which is very complex and it would be impossible to cover in one or even a series of books.
