This book takes a big stab at trying to describe the studies of adhesion between different classes of materials such as polymers, metals, ceramics, and even biological organisms. The book also includes a chapter on the modeling of adhesion at the atomic scale. As such, it is worth reading... but the problems arise in that each chapter is written by a different author(s) and one clearly notices the biasness of each author towards the research they do. Each of the different topics end up focusing on a few test cases. For example, the section on metal - ceramic adhesion deals with really one ceramic, alumina, even though many metal - ceramic couples are being studied quite extensively. Because of this, I would not recommend this book as an introduction to the field. It does make a good reference for those who work with adhesion.
