Adhesion Promotion Techniques: Technological Applications (Materials Engineering)

Product Description
Presents the state of the art in improving bond strength between different materials for many manufacturing processes. The text explores up-to-date, high-quality adhesion technologies for a wide variety of materials, explaining current capabilities of adhesion promotion for both students and seasoned researchers. It reviews the suitable chemistry or morphology for enhanced adhesion to metal, plastic and wood surfaces.Adhesion Promotion Techniques: Technological Applications (Materials Engineering) Review
The adhesion between different materials is something people rarely consider when they think of science or engineering, yet few subjects are more important to practicioners in so many fields such as biology, materials science, chemistry, construction, medicine, etc... This book takes a big stab at trying to describe the studies of adhesion between different classes of materials such as polymers, metals, ceramics, and even biological organisms. The book also includes a chapter on the modeling of adhesion at the atomic scale. As such, it is worth reading... but the problems arise in that each chapter is written by a different author(s) and one clearly notices the biasness of each author towards the research they do. Each of the different topics end up focusing on a few test cases. For example, the section on metal - ceramic adhesion deals with really one ceramic, alumina, even though many metal - ceramic couples are being studied quite extensively. Because of this, I would not recommend this book as an introduction to the field. It does make a good reference for those who work with adhesion. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Adhesion Promotion Techniques: Technological Applications (Materials Engineering)" are high quality item.
